Frequently Asked Questions

  • How Long does it take to tint my windows?

Depending on how many windows and the complexity of the installation required, most vehicles can be completed within 3 hours. We always overstimate our appointment times by approximately 30 minutes to ensure your timeline expectations are met.

  • How soon after having my window tinted can i roll them down?

For all installations we recommend a minimum of 3 days before rolling your windows down. However, we are confident that if you accidentally rolled them down on the first day -that nothing bad would result from it.

  • Can I Wash my Car after my Windows are Tinted?

Yes, you can. Window tint is installed on the inside of the window. This means that tint will be otherwise unaffected by the washing your car shortly after having the windows tinted.

  • Will my tint ever bubble, peel, or crack?

With Autobahns’ lifetime warranty on your window tint we guarantee that your tint will not bubble, fade, crack or peel. This warranty is superior to other warranties on the market as it is transferable and offers a no-fault clause.

  • What is the legal limit for window tint on my vehicle?

Being located in Ontario, the legal limit of window tint on your vehicle is 30% tint on your front windows or 30% VLT. Rear windows have no legal limits. Windshields have a legal limit of 70% tint or 70% VLT. VLT stands for visible light transmittance.

  • Is Tint Installed on the Outside or Inside of the Window?

Window tint is installed on the inside of the window. However window tint requires being molded, or heat shrunk to your windows before being installed. This is performed on the outside of the window prior to installation.

  • What is the best way to clean my tinted house windows?

You’ll find its quite easy to clean your tinted house windows, however we recommend using a glass cleaner that is marked “tint safe” on it. We do not recommend any cleaners that are ammonia based such as Windex etc.

  • Is there House Tint that you can see out but noone can see in?

The way house window tint works allows you to have the ability to see out the windows during the day, while noone can see in. However, whichever side of the window has the greatest light source will create that side of the window to be reflective. (At night time it does not work without proper outdoor lighting on the windows)

  • I want to reduce heat without having dark windows on my house or car

We have some great ceramic tint options for you. Ceramic window tint allows us to have completely clear windows that still block 99% of UV, a significant amount of heat and glare, and will protect your interior from fading and discolouring.
