Why Homeowners are choosing window tint

Each spring and summer that passes brings more heat, more sun, and more exposure to UVA & UVB Rays in your home. This is why in newly built homes, homeowners are pushed to buy very costly low-e glass, and are equally pressured to make sure your home is achieving a specific efficiency rating. This can all be confusing and costly.

Most people are not aware that you can tint house windows, which can match or outperform costly low-e glass. Window tint for your home can reduce energy use and reduce emissions for your home. This can also be used to assist you in achieving an efficiency rating for your home, along with some added styling and curb appeal.

There are many other benefits of window tint for your home that pair along with reducing energy uses, and emissions.

Some of these benefits are; reducing heat by reflecting the sun’s rays, and by blocking 99% of UV Rays entering through the windows. Blocking heat is crucial to maintain comfort in your home and window tint can make a significant and noticeable difference immediately after being installed.

Maybe you’ve just replaced the floors in your home, perhaps the old flooring didn’t look as new, or wasn’t the ideal colour that it could have been. Well, you should know that flooring, furniture, and paint can all discolour from UV Rays penetrating the windows in your home. This year alone we’ve received many requests to help protect new furniture and flooring in our clients homes! Residential window tint can help before its too late.

House window tint comes in many shades, styles, and can be installed on both the interior and the exterior of your windows. Depending on the problems you may be facing, we are confident that we have options for your home.

Traditionally, window tint for your home would only come in a reflective film which creates a mirror like effect on your windows. A huge benefit to this style of film is that it can give you daytime privacy in your home. This means that you can open up your blinds, and no one will be able to see in. Reflective Solar Film does an amazing job at reducing heat in your home, blocking UV Rays, and giving you daytime privacy. However, this film has its limitations as far as privacy is concerned.

The film works like this: Both sides of the film are reflective, one side has an adhesive on it. When it is installed; the side of the window that has the greatest light source will cause that side of the film to be reflective.

So here’s an example; It’s 12:00PM noon and the Sun is in the sky. If we were standing outside of our house looking in - we would only see a reflection of what is outside. We would not be able to see in the house.
If we were inside looking out of your house with the window tint on it we would see clearly outside with no issue.

Here’s another example; It’s 11:00PM in the evening and you have all of the lights on in the house. If we were standing outside of your house looking in - we would be able to see in your windows as we normally would.
If we were inside looking out of your house with the window tint on it, we would see reflection as well. You can still see out of your windows from inside, however it is important not to go with a very low VLT reflective film to ensure less reflectivity inside in the evening looking out.

As you can see, dual reflective film is really great at giving you privacy during the daytime, so you can open up your blinds and use your windows as you were meant to. However, blinds become helpful during the evening hours.

As of late, the residential window tint industry has been innovating and coming up with solutions that were not present before - and lots of people are adding residential window tint to their homes.
